System Shock fans were devastated to learn that OtherSide Entertainment had laid off the team working on System Shock 3 last February. Their Community Managed stated recently that a Linux build should be available between Update 3 and Update 4, possibly next month. It looks like Tencent has a larger role in System Shock 3’s development than we initially believed. Too early for us to confirm anything yet, but once the process is nailed down with UA*, it should be easier for our future titles to see Mac and Linux releases.Īs for how Underworld Ascendant for Linux is coming along, they're working on it constantly but they still don't have an exact date for it just yet. When asked about it on Twitter today, the team from x said this:
Given how OtherSide Entertainment are working on bringing Underworld Ascendant to Linux and System Shock 3 is being made in Unity, I thought it possible. The entire team behind the upcoming System Shock 3 is no longer employed at developer OtherSide Entertainment, according. Since I haven't been following this along too closely, I wasn't entirely sure what their plans were for the release platforms, that and information about System Shock 3 is pretty limited. System Shock 3's design director updated his LinkedIn just this week. Obviously it's not much, it's just a teaser but still pretty exciting stuff.
